Things to Note Before You Book
Mountain Roads & Access
The property is in Wears Valley, surrounded by rolling hills and scenic backroads. Most routes are paved, but they can be steep, narrow, and winding in spots. Our property is on a level road with level parking.
During winter months, 4WD/AWD and good tires are strongly recommended. Weather can change quickly, and icy patches are common on shaded roads and driveways. We encourage you to purchase travel insurance in case of cancelations.
Drive carefully at night — it’s dark out here. That’s part of the charm, but headlights and patience are your best friends.
Nature & Wildlife
You’re visiting the Great Smoky Mountains — nature lives here too. You may see deer, raccoons, wild turkeys, foxes, and even the occasional black bear. We love our bears, insects and wildlife, they were here first, and we need to treat them with respect they deserve.
Never feed wildlife and always secure trash in the provided bins.
Keep car doors locked and food stored indoors — bears have great noses and no boundaries.
Insects & Outdoor Living
Expect seasonal insects like wasps, mosquitoes, ladybugs, and gnats — especially in spring and summer. We provide regular pest control, but you’re still in the woods.
Porch lights can attract bugs at night; turn them off when not needed.
If you’re sensitive, bring bug spray — it’s a mountain essential.
Weather & Environment
The Smokies have their own moods — fog, rain, and sudden temperature drops are normal.
Summer can bring pop-up storms; winter can bring snow and ice.
Cell service may fluctuate depending on your carrier. Wi-Fi is provided but mountain speeds can vary, but we have Xfinity, the best in the area.
Quiet hours are 10 PM–6 AM to preserve the peace and wildlife around you. We love our neighbors and would like to keep them happy.
Safety & Preparedness
In cases of power outages (from storms or maintenance), mountain utilities typically restore service as quickly as possible, and the hosts monitor this with the local power app.
We recommend packing flashlights, extra blankets, rain jackets, boots, proper attire for the types of activities you are participating in. Bring plenty of bottled water and extra snacks for energy.
