About this house
A split-level home, main living areas on one floor and the bedrooms up a short flight.
The living room has a tuned upright piano you are welcome to play, comfortable seating, and a TV. The kitchen is set up for real cooking: full-size range and oven, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, and full cookware. Coffee, tea, sugar, and creamer are stocked when you arrive.
Three bedrooms, each with its own TV, a work desk, a luggage rack, and hangers. The primary has a king bed and lamps with USB ports built into them. The second has a queen. The third has two single beds, which works for kids or a third adult. Four beds total, sleeping six.
Two full bathrooms. Washer and dryer downstairs, free to use for as long as you are here.
Out back there is a grass yard, a cement patio, and a bar cart you are welcome to use. The driveway holds two cars.
Traveling with kids: pack-and-play, high chair, toys, board games, beach towels and buckets, and a cooler are all here.
The entire house is yours, along with the backyard and the driveway. Two cars fit.
The basement is split. The open area with the washer and dryer is yours to use any time. The smaller storage room off to the side is not part of the stay, and neither is the garage.
Marynook has a nickname that locals actually believe in: "The Suburb in the City." If you've spent time on the south side, you know this pocket of Chicago feels genuinely different. The streets are wide, the lots are generous, and the block has a settled, residential calm you won't find closer to the loop.
Avalon Park is a short walk from the front door. It's a full neighborhood park with green space and a place to decompress after a day of sightseeing. From here, you're less than 20 minutes from the Obama Presidential Library in Jackson Park, the Museum of Science and Industry, the DuSable Black History Museum, and the full Museum Campus along the lakefront (Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and Adler Planetarium). The University of Chicago campus is also within that same window. Multiple Lake Michigan beaches are close enough to make a spontaneous afternoon trip worth it.
Grant Park, Soldier Field, and Guaranteed Rate Field are all in the same general radius. The Dan Ryan Expressway and the Chicago Skyway both run near here, which means getting in or out of the city in any direction is straightforward. This is a neighborhood that lets you feel like you're away from it all while keeping everything in reach.
The home is well-positioned for both driving and transit. The Dan Ryan Expressway (I-90/94) is nearby, giving you a direct route north toward the loop and beyond, while the Chicago Skyway connects easily to the south and east. CTA bus service runs through the surrounding corridors, and the broader south side transit network connects to downtown and the rest of the city. Key destinations like downtown Chicago, the Obama Presidential Library, the University of Chicago, Soldier Field, and Lake Michigan beaches are all within a 20-minute drive under normal traffic conditions. Two off-street driveway parking spots are included with your stay.
Cameras: there is a Ring doorbell camera and motion floodlights outside. Exterior only. There are no cameras inside the house.
This is a shoe-free home. Please take your shoes off once you are inside and leave them on the rack by the bench. Washable slippers are there for you.
Near the entry you will see two switches labeled "leave on." Please leave them on. They run the exterior lights and the camera.
Quiet hours are 10 PM to 9 AM. This is a long-settled residential block and the neighbors are close, so please keep noise and music down at night.
No smoking of any kind anywhere on the property, including cannabis.
Pets: one small dog, 25 pounds or under. A pet fee of $50 per night applies. Please pick up after your dog right away, inside and anywhere in the yard, and bag the waste into the outdoor bins.
The TVs are smart TVs with no cable. Bring your own streaming logins.
The piano is tuned and you are welcome to play it. Please treat it gently and do not move it.
The sidewalk out front is uneven in spots. Watch your step at night.
You may hear a dog next door now and then. The neighbor's dogs are older and easygoing.
